Personalised learning

Schools have an obligation to ensure that students with disability and additional learning and support needs can participate in education on the same basis as their peers at every stage of their school life as per the Disability Standards for Education (2005) and the department's Inclusive Education Policy for students with disability.

Some students may require adjustments and support plans to help them to be successful at school. These must be made in consultation with students, parents/carers and school staff.

Supporting an inclusive classroom

Inclusive education means all students can access and fully participate in learning, supported by reasonable adjustments and teaching strategies tailored to meet their individual needs.

The Inclusive Education Statement for students with disability furthers our commitment to improving learning and wellbeing for students with disability in every school. Refer to the disability strategy webpage to find out more.

We are committed to making inclusive education real for all our students with disability. Inclusion is embedded in all aspects of school life and is supported by culture, policies and everyday practices.

Please refer to the Disability, Learning and Support webpage and the inclusive education for students with a disability webpage to find out how you can support inclusive education.

At Tirriwirri School, students are supported to engage in meaningful learning, within small class sizes. Every class has one specialised Special Education teacher and one School learning support officer.
